Remote Law Student Externship/Internship Positions in response to COVID-19

Help American University Law Students Complete Their Academic Credits

Posted March 23, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, dozens of students at American University Washington College of Law can no longer complete on-site externships for summer 2020. As such, we are seeking lawyers at nonprofit organizations who are offering remote externships (internships for academic credit) throughout the semester, from May 26, 2020 through August 1, 2020.

To be eligible, attorney supervisors must be employed by a nonprofit organization, and the position offered must be part of the work of that nonprofit organization. Students must be able to extern remotely on substantive legal matters under the direct supervision of an attorney. Students must not be paid for their work. The position should offer students the ability to work at least a minimum of 15 hours per week.

If you are interested in sharing your position with our students, please contact us as soon as possible!

Thank you for helping our next generation of lawyers!
