Distribute funds to undocumented immigrants
Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for most COVID relief. We would like...
Lawyers possess unique skills to help nonprofits and the people they serve navigate this time of unprecedented need, suffering, and uncertainty. Whether it’s helping nonprofits adapt and respond to COVID-19, seek federal relief, or continue protecting our democracy and vulnerable communities, lawyers have an essential role to play during this pandemic.
In a time of unprecedented need, We The Action lawyers have more than doubled their volunteerism with our nonprofit partners. Our lawyers are working closely with our partners to respond to many of this pandemic’s devastating threats--from promoting safe, free, and fair elections; to supporting efforts to supply medical professionals with personal protective equipment (PPE); to counseling dozens of organizations seeking federal relief; to protecting vulnerable populations, like detained immigrants and survivors of sexual assault; and more.
As nonprofits struggled to maintain operations due to the pandemic, we established a COVID-19 Nonprofit Relief Task Force to help over 50 organizations seeking relief under the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program. The Task Force, which We The Action organized in a matter of days, was staffed by 80+ volunteer lawyers on standby to provide advice and guidance when time was of the essence.
