Voting Rights Legal Roving Monitor - Georgia Election Protection
Respond to voting rights issues at polling places and assess polling place accessibility.
Posted June 24, 2026
Background & Context
Georgia Election Protection's (GA EP) Legal Roving Monitor (LRM) program meets two essential voting rights needs in Georgia.
First, we must ensure a dedicated legal response capacity to address urgent voting rights and election issues. Second, we must make significant progress in evaluating Georgia's polling locations for accessibility for voters with disabilities.
Immediate Problem
Legal Roving Monitors in Election Protection field programs are essential when and where rapid response is required. However, these needs are variable, and most volunteers spend their shifts addressing basic voter access issues. There is a huge opportunity to utilize that time to assess (and ultimately improve) the accessibility of Georgia polling places for people with disabilities.
Work & Deliverables
Legal Roving Monitors (LRMs) will be assigned to a designated county in Georgia and are expected to provide coverage throughout their Election Day shift. We are particularly seeking volunteers who can monitor polling locations in Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Chatham, Bibb, Richmond, Clayton, and Dougherty Counties.
All LRMs must have a smartphone and access to a reliable personal vehicle to travel between polling locations within their assigned county.
During their shift, Legal Roving Monitors (LRMs) will visit assigned polling locations to identify and document voting access concerns and assess polling place accessibility for voters with disabilities. At each location, LRMs will complete both the Poll Monitor Checklist and the Accessibility Survey. Any issues identified should be reported to the 866-OUR-VOTE Election Protection Hotline and the LRM WhatsApp group for further guidance and escalation. LRMs may also be directed by the Georgia Election Protection Command Center to visit specific polling locations as needed.
If a voting-related issue arises that requires legal intervention or rapid response, the Georgia Election Protection Command Center may dispatch LRMs to the affected polling location. All response activities will be conducted under the guidance and supervision of Georgia Election Protection legal experts.
