All Voting is Local Florida
Florida Canvassing Board Legal Monitors
Protect the right to vote and ensure that votes are counted.
Posted August 20, 2024
Background & Context
By providing a legal perspective of the canvassing board process, you can help ensure that votes cast are counted. Florida Canvassing Board Advocates is a nonpartisan program that trains advocates to observe the vote canvassing and support ballot review as needed during county canvassing boards and pre- and post-election meetings in Florida's 67 counties. The program is a collaboration of All Voting Is Local, the NAACP LDF, and Florida Voting Rights coalition partners.
Immediate Problem
Questions and concerns about our election processes are at an all-time high.
Work & Deliverables
Florida Canvassing Board Advocates attend, document, and advocate at county canvassing board meetings. Volunteers do not need to be licensed or reside in Florida, but they must be able to attend in person.
Specifically, we will need volunteers in every Florida county on these dates:
- Nov 4th (processing of vote by mail ballots)
- Nov 5th (Election Day)
- Nov 7th (processing of provisional ballots)
- Nov 18th (county certification of results)
Volunteers who can cover multiple dates are particularly helpful, but we are also happy to work with volunteers who can only cover one.
All Voting is Local Florida
All Voting’s mission is to fight voter suppression and advance pro-voter policies at the state and local level, ensuring that all Americans, particularly Black, Brown, Native American, and other historically marginalized communities, have their voices heard.
