Michigan Election Protection Hotline

Support voters exercising their rights

Posted April 27, 2026

Background & Context

The Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law administers a year-round nonpartisan election protection hotline (866) OUR-VOTE. In the lead up to and immediately after the election, Promote the Vote Fund administers a Michigan Call Center within the national hotline, which allows us to recruit and train lawyers, law students, and legal professionals specifically on Michigan election law and issues.

Work & Deliverables

Hotline volunteers are responsible for answering calls and addressing the voting-related questions and issues that arise. PTVF and the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law provide training and other helpful materials on the hotline systems and Michigan election law.

Hotline volunteers are supported each shift by a captain, who is an experienced hotline volunteer with a solid understanding of Michigan election law. PTVF is also looking for legal volunteers who are interested in becoming captains.

We need volunteers to serve from mid-July through August 7 and from Mid-October through November 6. Sign up for July/August shifts will open in June, and sign up for October/November shifts will open in September.

Elizabeth, Kristie, and 11 others support this project.
