Posted April 16, 2024

Background & Context

Join We The Action on July 16 at 3:00 PM ET for "Vocal Vanguards: Voter Protection Trends and Challenges of the 2024 Election," the third program of the Voter Vanguard series. The program will feature speakers engaged in ensuring free and fair elections, will identify some of the challenges to voting rights this election cycle, and encourage lawyer involvement in protecting democracy.

Immediate Problem

Elections should always be free, fair, and safe. But in recent years, the right to vote has been under threat. This year alone, at least 284 bills that restrict voter access have been introduced nationwide. In 14 states, at least 17 new voter suppression laws will be in effect for the 2024 general election. That’s why this election cycle, We The Action will be mobilizing thousands of lawyers to take action by donating 150,000 hours to protect the right to vote in 2024. This program will provide insight into some of the trends and challenges of the upcoming election and how to get involved as a lawyer.
