Serve as an Election Protection Hotline Captain (REMOTE)

Support Election Protection volunteers assisting voters and documenting problems at polls

Posted August 13, 2020

Background & Context

Please Note: At this time, this opportunity is open for individuals who have already completed three Election Protection shifts this year and have previously served as an Election Protection Captain. The national, nonpartisan Election Protection coalition works year-round to ensure that all voters have an equal opportunity to vote and have that vote count. The 866-OUR-VOTE hotline is answered by trained legal volunteers daily who are supported by captains through the hotline platform’s chat function.

Immediate Problem

The captain role is critical for the success of the national voter hotline, and Election Protection needs to fill over 1,200 captain shifts between now and Election Day.

Work & Deliverables

Captains are asked to commit to 1-3 additional shifts in October and 1+ shift on November 2 and/or 3. Selected lawyers will complete a captains training and will be supported during their first shift by call center leads. Written guides will also be provided.
