Arizona Poll Monitors & Legal Observers

Ensure voters in vulnerable communities are safe and protected.

Posted October 9, 2026

Background & Context

Protect Arizona Voters from intimidation, disinformation, and voter suppression this election! Join Common Cause Arizona’s Election Protection Arizona program to ensure voters in vulnerable communities are safe and protected.

We’ll have opportunities for stationary and roving Poll Monitors, and new this year in Arizona: Legal Observer Poll Monitors. These Poll Monitors are uniquely trained and qualified to report any incidents of federal agents at or near polling locations.

Our coalition has identified priority polling locations, some of which have historically been problem locations for BIPOC voters. We’ll work to make sure we place you at locations where you’ll make an impact and locations whose community needs the additional support.

We have on-demand, live virtual, and in-person options available to help train volunteers! Together we’re committed to making sure every voter can cast their ballot safe and securely.

Work & Deliverables

Stationary Poll Monitors will be set up outside designated polling locations to assist voters and report problems to the command center. These Poll Monitors serve as a friendly face to voters, while also being a deterrent to bad actors.

Roving Poll Monitors will visit multiple polling locations to check for issues—long lines, voter intimidation, and accessibility—and quickly deploy to polling locations when problems are reported to the command center. Roving Poll Monitors are also one of our first lines of defense to verify the credibility of potentially impactful information as it comes in.

Legal Observers are new to the Arizona program this year. In partnership with some of our community partners, these volunteers will be equipped with the skills and resources necessary to document and report incidents, and also track the presence of any federal agents, or law enforcement, at polling locations.
