Webinar: Submitting Public Comment Regarding DOJ Proposal
Friday, March 27 at 1PM ET | Virtual (Zoom)
Posted March 23, 2026
Immediate Problem
On March 5, 2026, the Department of Justice published a proposed rule that would shield its own attorneys from investigation by state bar disciplinary authorities, the independent bodies responsible for holding all lawyers accountable. Under this proposal, the Attorney General can intercept ethics complaints against DOJ attorneys, freeze state bar investigations indefinitely, and face no real obligation to act on the underlying misconduct. This comes at the very moment the DOJ has eliminated its own internal oversight, firing both its chief ethics official and the head of its Office of Professional Responsibility.
Work & Deliverables
Volunteers in this webinar will receive details on the DOJ regulatory comment process and how to submit a comment on the DOJ proposal. Volunteers will receive a clear understanding of the risks posed by this proposed rule and of how it affects the legal profession. With these resources, you will be prepared to submit an efficient comment on the DOJ proposal prior to the April 6th, 2026 deadline.
If you can’t attend the live program, we will send registrants resources and the recording following the webinar.
