Be a Nonpartisan Absent Voter Counting Board Challenger in Michigan
Ensure that ballot counting proceeds smoothly.
Posted October 7, 2024
Work & Deliverables
Absent Voter Counting Boards (where absentee ballots are counted in larger cities) tend to run smoothly, but we have seen attempts to disrupt them and cast doubt on election integrity in the past.
PTV needs challengers to monitor the counting process, ensure bad actors don’t interfere, and take action if necessary. Challengers are needed before, on, and after Election Day. The highest need is on Election Day, especially after 8 pm. Challengers must be registered to vote in MI and must complete PTV’s training before their shift.

Wrap Up
Promote the Vote
Promote the Vote (PTV) is a coalition of nonpartisan organizations committed to removing barriers to voting and safeguarding Michigan’s elections. As the primary coordinator of Michigan’s nonpartisan Election Protection Program, PTV works with Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights to staff and monitor the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline and organizes election protection volunteers across the state. For the November 5 General Election, PTV is looking for lawyers to serve as monitors during early voting, on Election Day, and during the post election canvass.
