End Rape On Campus

EROC's Legal Assistance Network

Assist End Rape on Campus in answering legal questions regarding Title IX cases

Posted June 30, 2022

Background & Context

End Rape on Campus (EROC) works to end campus sexual violence through direct support for survivors and their communities; prevention through education; and policy reform at the campus, local, state, and federal levels. We envision a world in which each individual has an educational experience free from violence, and until then, that all survivors are believed, trusted, and supported. Using a Centering the Margins (CTM) framework, EROC focuses and centers historically underserved and marginalized student survivors in the campus anti-rape movement and attends to the particular needs of those survivors.

Immediate Problem

Wherever possible, EROC provides direct support to student survivors of gender-based and sexual violence. However, we frequently receive questions that we lack the legal expertise to answer. We are looking for volunteers to help us understand how to best respond to these inquiries as we receive them, and to help our organization develop an internal (and someday external) resource of responses to frequently asked questions in Title IX cases.

Work & Deliverables

Volunteers would work with End Rape On Campus (EROC) to answer any legal questions we receive from students regarding their rights under Title IX and sexual violence prevention laws, including state-specific legislation. Volunteers would not be expected to act as low cost or pro bono representation in any current court cases. Volunteers would not have direct interaction with students, unless the volunteer decides that would be the next, best, appropriate step. Volunteers would also be tasked with assisting EROC in the formation of an FAQ for legal questions with regards to Title IX cases in target states.

End Rape On Campus

End Rape on Campus (EROC) works to end campus sexual violence through direct support for survivors and their communities; prevention through education; and policy reform at the campus, local, state, and federal levels. Driving by our Centering the Margins framework, we aim to fill the disparity of resources between different communities and prioritize historically underserved student survivors and their communities.
