New Georgia Project

Update Voter Protection Materials

Ensure hundreds of Georgia voter protection volunteers have accurate guidance

Posted March 29, 2022

Background & Context

New Georgia Project’s (“NGP”) VoPro program is a 501(c)(3), non-partisan election protection effort, comprised of volunteer lawyers and non-lawyers, dedicated to ensuring and promoting equitable and accessible elections for all Georgians, year ‘round.

VoPro is comprised of three parts: 1. monitoring election day activities, 2. voting education, and 3. providing specialized training on election law and voting rights to lawyers with diverse backgrounds. Lawyer training is provided under the “Vote Defender” moniker. Vote Defender is a VoPro program.

Immediate Problem

NGP needs lawyers to analyze recent voter suppression laws and help make sure that their materials are current and accurate.

Work & Deliverables

Volunteers will review and update training materials, standard forms, templates, and memos to support NGP's VoPro and Vote Defender programs. Volunteers may also conduct research and monitor news related to national and Georgia-level election law changes.

New Georgia Project

The New Georgia Project (NGP) is a Black-led and staffed 501c3 organization focused on building political power with people of color and winning progressive policy change that protects and improves their lives. A primary way NGP builds power in minority communities is through voter registration, education and engagement. NGP works with voters to demystify the political and legislative process, introduce organizing tools, and identify their reasons for voting--a model that has resulted in an increase in civic participation among low propensity voters of color.
