Asylum-Seeker from Haiti Seeks Representation in Removal Proceedings (REMOTE)

Help Mr. MC gain legal status in the U.S. and protection from deportation

Posted October 4, 2021

Background & Context

Mr. MC is an asylum-seeker from Haiti. He is currently in removal proceedings before the Aurora, Colorado immigration court. He seeks a pro bono attorney to represent him before the Aurora court in applying for withholding of removal and relief under the Convention against Torture. A brief description of his case is below.

Work & Deliverables

Mr. MC is a 32-year-old man from Haiti who recently arrived in the United States. He previously fled Haiti to come to the United States and was summarily deported at that time. Mr. MC fears return to Haiti because his father was a mayor with political power, and groups that were in opposition to his father threatened him and kidnapped his girlfriend. This group attempted to kidnap him as well, but he managed to escape. Mr. MC passed his reasonable fear interview and is eligible to apply for withholding of removal and protection under the Convention against Torture. He seeks an attorney to represent him in his case so that he may remain safely in the United States. He seeks an attorney to advocate on his behalf.
