Legal Screenings for Immigrants in Arizona
Aliento is looking to inform and educate immigrants on their legal case, options, and possible reliefs that they might be eligible for.
Posted August 7, 2020
Background & Context
Aliento does DACA renewals on an ongoing basis. We have encountered several individuals who are eligible for other permanent forms of reliefs through our drives. Therefore, we think that many immigrants don't get legal screenings due to high cost as well as not knowing the potential benefits.
Immediate Problem
This project will provide legal counsel to a constituency that doesn't have the access or means to acquire without pro-bono legal screenings.
Work & Deliverables
We would like the lawyer to do be available for 10 to 20 legal screenings for immigrants.
Preparation Phase
- Setting up intake forms, creating a calendar for the volunteer, and tech prep
Collaboration Phase
- Getting in contact with Aliento's Family
- Alientos FCL will coordinate between the volunteer and the interested immigrants as needed
Wrap Up
- Report on the work done by the volunteer
