Help Limitless Foundation File for 501(c)(3) Status

Limitless Foundation is developing and expanding as we seek to increase access to equitable and accessible treatment and to support cancer patients during this difficult time.

Posted August 3, 2020

Background & Context

In the past, we were a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization as our annual gross receipts were under $5000. Our organization has seen exponential growth in the last few months and are on track to far exceed that limit, necessitating recognition with the IRS by filing Form 1023.

Work & Deliverables

We would like a lawyer who has experience filing Form 1023 with the IRS to answer questions and guide us in completing our Form 1023-EZ paperwork to ensure that we are in full compliance with IRS regulations. Our Foundation is incorporated in Oklahoma, but we are looking for general guidance on nonprofit formation and welcome assistance from any location.

Limitless Foundation

Limitless Foundation is at its startup phase as we seek to increase access to equitable and accessible treatment and to support cancer patients during this difficult time. Limitless seeks to support patients and organizations at every level of treatment. We know that we can never truly understand the systemic inequalities all the patients we serve face, but we seek to listen to their stories and needs. We stand with the populations we serve in their fight for justice today and everyday. Limitless is committed to serving all patients regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic background, political affiliation, gender identity, or any other identifications. Our founder, Christine Nguyen, began this foundation in 2018 when her uncle Cuong Ngo, a mentor and beloved friend, passed away at age 45 from a five year battle with stage four colon cancer. His loss altered her high school career and instilled a desire to help patients similar to her uncle. She sought to create a platform to mobilize students to create these changes in the Oklahoma healthcare network. Today, we continue this mission and seek to expand our outreach nationwide. Limitless believes that access to basic healthcare is a human right. We recognize that the healthcare system has and continues to perpetuate injustices in many forms. We seek to support organizations that make healthcare more accessible, especially to those from disadvantaged groups. We also hope to provide resources to empower citizens to hold their representatives accountable and to fight for legislation that takes steps towards equitable healthcare. Current initiatives we are working on include donating volunteer made masks, scarves, and hats to treatment centers.
