Represent a local volunteer group in King County Superior Court (WA) in a defamation complaint

Snohomish County Indivisible was named in a defamation suit in King County

Posted April 10, 2025

Background & Context

The two group leaders who are defendants are long time volunteer community leaders who are leaders for a local community advocacy group called Snohomish County Indivisible, which is also a named defendant. Snohomish County Indivisible has for year fought to support local, state, and federal democracy reform and progressive issues, as well as the candidates who support those issues. They have given countless hours of their time to do this work because they care about fighting for a brighter future for the next generation. They regularly get approached by candidates who seek their group's endorsement, including the plaintiff, and they do significant due diligence to learn about the candidate before making a decision whether or not to endorse. The defamation complaint is filed by a former judicial candidate who did not receive an endorsement from Snohomish County Indivisible and the two defendants were publicly campaigning for the candidates opponent.

Immediate Problem

The immediate concern is helping the defendant file a response to the defamation complaint that was filed against them in the Superior Court in King County, Washington State on April 7th (they were served on April 9th).

Work & Deliverables

Snohomish County Indivisible (which is not a registered legal entity. but rather a volunteer community group of activists) and two of it's volunteer community leaders have been named as defendants in a defamation complaint in King County in the state of Washington. The lawyer would need to represent just the GROUP in this defamation lawsuit. The complaint was served to the two volunteer group leaders on April 9th, but nothing has actually been served to Snohomish County Indivisible, so this lawyer would need to start immediately to help defendant file a response to the complaint.
