Data Privacy Support for Benefits Enrollment Initiative
You well help us ensure low income patients can securely enroll in benefits programs
Posted June 25, 2024
Background & Context
Link Health aims to connect patients to the $80B of unused public benefits intended for low income people. We work in healthcare settings to screen and enroll patients in SNAP, LIHEAP and Lifeline.
Work & Deliverables
A Healthier Democracy runs an initiative called Link Health, which helps patients in public benefits programs like SNAP, LIHEAP and Lifeline. We would like support on a couple areas related to data privacy. Specifically:
1. We are drafting a privacy policy and would like it to be reviewed
2. We'd like support creating an incident response plan (i.e., how would we respond if PII data was ever compromised)
3. We'd like advice on additional steps we should take, including advice on vendors for cyber insurance and vendors for general cybersecurity support

A Healthier Democracy
At A Healthier Democracy, we believe that health care workers and health care settings have untapped power to drive positive social change. We are the home for organizing at the intersection of health and civic engagement. Our flagship program, Vot-ER, develops nonpartisan civic engagement tools and programs for every corner of the healthcare system—from private practitioners to medical schools to hospitals. Our work is driven by a community of health care professionals, organizers, clinical students, and technologists united by a common vision: healthy communities powered by inclusive democracy. Together, we’ve expanded Vot-ER programs into over 500 hospitals and clinics and helped tens of thousands of Americans register and prepare to vote. We are gearing up for the 2024 election season, where we hope to help 75,000 patients get ready to vote in November's election.
