Draft Plain Language Information on "How To Obtain Compensation" for Survivors of Domestic Violence

Help us reach 1 million survivors a year with potentially life-saving information about how they can obtain financial compensation

Posted July 9, 2019

Financial insecurity is the #1 reason survivors of domestic violence stay in or return to abuse. Simply put, survivors need money to stay safe and heal. While there are already systems in place that provide compensation for survivors, many are unaware of these options. In order to fill this information gap, FreeFrom is building an online Self-Help Compensation Tool to help survivors access the compensation available to them in their state. Through the Tool, we anticipate reaching 1 million survivors a year with this essential information.

FreeFrom is looking for attorneys, interns, and / or law fellows to take research we've compiled on compensation options for survivors in all 50-states and use it to draft plain language guides to be uploaded to the Tool for use by survivors. That is, we need attorneys to translate the compiled research into Tool-ready content.

We will provide sample Tool-ready content to all volunteers.

With your help, we can help survivors obtain the financial compensation they need to stay safe and heal!
