Wilderness Watch

Nonprofit Status for National Forest Protection Group

The project will benefit the efforts of the Flathead-Lolo-Bitterroot Citzen Task Force to protect grizzly bears and wildlands protection on three national forests in Montana.

Posted May 28, 2019

The Flathead-Lolo-Bitterroot Citizen Task Force needs help gaining 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. The organization recently received its Articles of Incorporation certification from the State of Montana. Now it needs help to complete the paperwork and file with the IRS. Wilderness Watch currently serves as the group's fiscal sponsor, but it's time to set the Task Force free to raise funds and operate independently.

Wilderness Watch

Founded in 1989, Wilderness Watch is the leading national organization whose sole focus is the preservation and proper stewardship of lands and rivers included in the National Wilderness Preservation System. The organization grew out of the concern that while much emphasis is being placed on adding new areas to these systems, the conditions of existing Wilderness and rivers are largely being ignored. We believe that the stewardship of these remarkable wild places must be assured through independent citizen oversight, education, and the continual monitoring of federal management activities. We engage the agency administrative process, public outreach and education, litigation, and legislative oversight to ensure that our wildest landscapes are administered according to the visionary tenants of the 1964 Wilderness Act.
