Hindi Document Translation

Allow survivors of human trafficking to apply for immigration benefits.

Background & Context

Our office is currently assisting 10 survivors of human trafficking to apply for immigration benefits to receive protection in the United States. All of the survivors would like to bring their families to the United States so they can be reunited. In order to make this happen, we need to submit documents showing proof of the familiar relationship, including marriage certificates and birth certificates.

Immediate Problem

Produce English translations of Hindi documents to submit to the U.S. government.

Work & Deliverables

Translated document (birth certificate, marriage certificate, or similar) and translator's certifiate.

Preparation Phase

  • Intro email with volunteer coordinator
  • Receive documents and sample translator's certificate

Collaboration Phase

  • Translation of documents from Hindi to English

Wrap Up

  • Final English translation of Hindi documents

Maxwell Street Legal Clinic is an immigration direct services provider established in 1999 and located in Lexington, Kentucky. The office handles a wide variety of affirmative immigration cases, including family petitions, green card applications, DACA renewals, and citizenship applications. We also have a robust victim-centric practice assisting trafficking survivors, domestic violence survivors, and abused children through filing U visas, T visas, VAWA, and SIJS applications.
