Afghan SIV Adjustment of Status

You will be working with people to obtain permanent residence.

Background & Context

We have been conducting a consult clinic with Afghan evacuees for several months, and we believe that several people are eligible for SIV adjustment of status.

Immediate Problem

Providing legal services to Afghan evacuees.

Work & Deliverables

We are looking for immigration attorneys who are experienced in SIV adjustments. Volunteers would be taking on full representation and expected to research, draft, and file the SIV adjustment application.

Project Plan

Preparation Phase

  • Sign volunteer registration and volunteer agreement
  • review available trainings (if needed)
  • review consult information for client
  • introductory call with staff member from The Advocates for Human Rights

Collaboration Phase

  • meet with client
  • review questions with mentor attorney
  • research and collect information for application
  • draft application
  • review application with client
  • submit application to USCIS
  • await decision from USCIS

Wrap Up

  • confer with The Advocates to discuss outcome
  • review outcome with client and future steps
