Background & Context
Podsie started when Josh, as an 8th grade math teacher, realized there was a myriad of proven learning techniques based on decades of research that are widely underutilized in K-12 classrooms. Josh and I (Jesse) then set off on the mission to make it easy for K-12 teachers and students to use these learning techniques using software with the goal of improving student learning outcomes. In the process, we also partner with education researchers to create a bi-directional channel between classrooms and researchers to help further existing education research. Josh and I quit our full time jobs to work on Podsie in August of 2020, and since then, we've onboarded ~800 weekly active users in our pilot, raised $25,000 in funding, and started our first randomized control trial to measure the efficacy of Podsie. We plan to launch Podsie to the public in June 2021. Josh is a former teacher and Teach for America alum, holds a Masters in Education from Stanford, and later transitioned his career into software engineer. I (Jesse), am a software engineer who previously worked at Airbnb and Facebook, and am passionate about using my skills to solve problems in education.

We've already incorporated as a non-profit at the state level in Delaware, and we need a lawyer to help us file for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
