The WIT Project
Help underrepresented female students break into tech!
The WIT Project is developing a program to help female-identifying college students break into technology careers through socially impactful software development experiences.
Posted July 2, 2020
Background & Context
Studies show that only 24% of computer scientists are women. We seek to end the systematic exclusion of women in technology. Our goal is to equip students with diverse backgrounds with the tools they need to embrace their interdisciplinary experiences, making for richer and more inclusive technology. Through our partnerships with non-profits, we curate experiences in developing socially impactful software solutions that empower our students with skills needed to break down the barriers to becoming technology leaders.
Most students we support come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. We aim to financially empower our students through paid fellowships. In order to do this, we need a 501c3 designation to fundraise.
Immediate Problem
A 501c3 designation will support our goal to economically empower our students through fundraising.
Work & Deliverables
The WIT Project needs guidance and support in incorporating and filing for 501c3 status.
