Posted July 19, 2024
Work & Deliverables
A is a 4-year-old from Guatemala who entered the U.S. with his mother without any documentation in August of 2023. A’s father was an alcoholic and was verbally abusive with A. A has not had any contact with his father for more than two years. The Safe Passage Project pro bono attorney would help A apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) in Bronx County Family Court based on his father’s abandonment, then assist A with filing Form I-360 Petition for SIJS with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and in his removal proceedings before the Immigration Court. A’s next immigration court hearing is on July 17, 2024.
