Ms. 206 fled Guatemala with her young children because of severe domestic violence. Ms. 206 was physically and sexually abused by her partner. The local police refused to help her, and when she tried to hide from her partner in other parts of Guatemala, he was able to find her. A RMIAN attorney assisted Ms. 206 to file an asylum application. Ms. 206 and her children need an attorney to help them with their asylum case in removal proceedings.

The Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN) works to ensure justice for adults in immigration detention and for immigrant children who have suffered from abuse, neglect, or violence. RMIAN is a nonprofit organization that serves low-income men, women, and children in immigration removal proceedings. RMIAN promotes knowledge of legal rights, provides effective representation to ensure due process, works to improve detention conditions, and promotes a more humane immigration system, including alternatives to detention.
