Guide "Protect Our Past" in attaining 501c3 Tax Status

By becoming a 501c3, Protect Our Past will be able to accept tax deductible donations

Background & Context

Protect Our Past (POP) is committed to preserving historic properties across Cape Cod and the Islands (Massachusetts) through media and education and has a large support base... that said, donors would understandably like be able to commit funds on a tax deductible basis and POP would love to be able to offers its donors that option!

Immediate Problem

Become a 501c3 (we understand it will take time)

Work & Deliverables

Provide guidance on how to become a 501c3

Project Plan

Preparation Phase

  • Intro call with someone on the POP board to better understand where POP is in its legal status

Collaboration Phase

  • Lawyer can help provide guidance and next steps on 501c3 process

Wrap Up

  • Help make sure that all of the POP documents, if needed, are ready to be submitted for 501c3 status
