Help Protect Asylum Seekers!

Asylum Seekers deserve to have their stories told!

Posted December 17, 2021

Background & Context

Individuals appearing before immigration courts in the United States are NOT afforded an attorney. Many asylum seekers arrive to the United States with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and cannot afford private attorney fees. Nonprofits throughout the country cannot keep up with the demand for their services. Meanwhile, asylum seekers with legal representation are significantly more likely to win protection in the United States, compared to those who are forced to fight their cases themselves.

Latino Memphis

We assist Latinos in the Greater Memphis area by connecting, collaborating and advocating for health, education and justice. We envision a future in which every Latino in the Memphis metropolitan area has the opportunity and the resources to become an engaged and active member of the larger community. Our legal team represents individuals in affirmative applications before USCIS, including Asylum, U and T visas, VAWA, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, Adjustment of Status and Relative Petitions. Defensively, we represent individuals before the Memphis Immigration Court who are at risk of removal (deportation). We handle cases of Asylum, Withholding of Removal, Cancellation of Removal, and Adjustment of Status.
