Be a Poll Worker Recruitment Captain

COVID-19 affects all aspects of life, including our democracy. The most important election of our lifetimes is upon us and we must take urgent steps to ensure that all eligible voters can vote.

Posted September 9, 2020

Background & Context

There is a critical need for poll workers across the country to ensure every voter can vote, and have their vote counted. The pandemic has made recruiting and retaining poll workers -- whose average age is over 65 -- especially challenging. A lack of poll workers can result in polling places being closed, and data shows that these closures disproportionately impact communities of color. Without enough poll workers, voters are much more likely to experience long lines, delays, and confusion.

Immediate Problem

Bottom line: we have to ensure that in-person voting is safe and easily accessible for all of those seeking to vote. We need help recruiting poll workers in key states, including Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.

Work & Deliverables

With guidance and materials from the Voter Protection Corps, captains will help recruit poll workers from their personal and professional networks.
