Inclusive America - Memo on 2020 Candidate Pledge
We are planning to engage all 2020 candidates for president and beyond to make diversity and inclusion a priority. We want to make sure we stay within the legal parameters.

Inclusive America, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, seeks to increase diversity in our government in order to reflect the diversity of our people. More information is available at www.InclusiveAmerica.org.
We filed for the 501(h) Election to be able to conduct some lobbying.
We have developed a bi-partisan Pledge for Diversity for candidates, candidates-elect, and governing policymakers to take to ensure their teams and policies will be as inclusive as possible. See here for more details: www.PledgeForDiversity.org.
Note: Another nonprofit, Pay Our Interns, has successfully done a pledge with candidates and policymakers. See http://j.mp/2u88TAb. Therefore, we suspect this is possible.
Goal
We would like formal legal guidance to ensure that Inclusive America can proceed with the Pledge for Diversity with 2020 candidates, candidates-elect, and governing policymakers.
Inclusive America
Our mission is to make the government as diverse as the people of the United States. We will do that via three tracks: ● Educate: Track demographic information of all appointed political positions. We will provide the analysis to government hiring managers / recruiters, the media, partner organizations, and interested individuals. It will also serve as a baseline and tool to measure progress. ● Elevate: Partner with individuals, organizations, and associations to develop slates of qualified diverse candidates for every relevant position so we can provide a positive alternative to the status-quo. ● Advocate: Support policies that increase diversity, equity and inclusion in the public sector. For example, we would like to support the National Security Diversity and Inclusion Workforce Act.
